Bears Fly in Record Win

The Lions annual Teddy Bear Toss led to a record number of bears received, with the Lions collecting 1,230 stuffed animals.  The previous record was from last season, where the team collected 1,125.  The Toyota Sports Center was packed with LMU fans, including new University President, Thomas Poon.  And what a show they saw, as the Lions dominated play, winning the game 10-0.

Cooper Ford was “Mr. Teddy” this year, scoring the first goal for the Lions, tapping it into the net on a pass from McGillivray.  The Lions dominated chances, outshooting the Trojans 48-10, but the Trojan’s Netminder, Andrew Lim, made a lot of great saves and kept the game close halfway through.  But when the Lions pressure didn’t relent, the goals started to come.  Ford would scored two on the night, with McIlwain and Wojcik also scoring twice.  Tangri, Lee, Skenderian and DeLaForest also scored for the Lions.

Micah Kawai kept sharp and stopped all his shots, netting his first shutout of the season.

Thank you to our fans and neighbors who donated bears this year.  Including the USC team who brought stuffed animals to donate too.  The 1,230 stuffed animals were donated to two charities, the Richstone Family Foundation, who help children who experience domestic violence in the home, and Momentum4All, who help children and families with disabilities.  We hope everyone has a great Christmas and Holiday Season.
