D3 Lions Split Weekend

The D3 Lions split the weekend, securing a winning record in our inaugural season!

On Friday the Lions traveled to play Cal Lutheran.  Trailing after the first 1-0, the Lions regrouped for a big 2nd period as the Lions scored three times, and led 3-2 after the 2nd.  In the third the game opened up and the Lions scored 4 more goals, winning the game 7-4.  James Brown netted the hat trick, leading the Lions.  Sedlmayer and Gil each scored twice as well.  The Lions were backstopped in net by Chris Cantillo who stopped 22 of 26 shots in the victory.

On Saturday the Lions played at home against Long Beach.  The Lions would score twice in the first, and led 2-1 at the break.  But in the second, the Lions offense sputtered and Long Beach was able to tie the game 2-2.  In the third the Lions pushed to take back the lead, but Long Beach was able to find the back of the net, and the Lions lost 4-2 to Long Beach.

With the Friday night win, the Lions guaranteed a winning record in their inaugural season!  The final game of the season is at home on Saturday 2/10 at 7:30 pm.
