Lions Notch first Win in program history

It only took 2 games, and the Lions notched their first win in program history!  The Lions headed to Simi Valley to take on Cal Lutheran at their home opener Saturday night, scored first and never trailed. The Lions, led by Colton Marcy in net and Evan McMillan scoring a hat trick.

The Lions scored first, as Zach Freedman fired it home.  That was the only goal of the first, and Lions led 1-0.  In the second the Lions would grow their lead to 3-0, with goals from Lackey, and the first of the night for McMillan.  But the Lions would hit a rough spot, with CLU scoring 3 goals in 5 minutes, including one that was disputed, but was awarded to CLU.  The Lions regained their footing later in the 2nd, able to get back to putting on pressure, but the game remained tied 3-3 after 2.

The third though, was all Lions.  McMillan would score to give the Lions the lead for good, then Lo, Freedman’s second, and McMillan’s third goal would blow it open, and the Lions won the game 7-3, for the first win the D3 programs history.

Player of the game though, went to Colton Marcy, who started in net and stopped 28/31 shots for the win.  Though the Lions controlled the pace most of the game, with only 11 skaters, Marcy had to be big over and over.
