Lions Announce New Head Coaches

The Lions are thrilled to announce the hiring of Daniel Kim (ACHA D2) and Trevor Wada (ACHA D3) as the new head coaches.

Coach Kim is a native of Southern California having played for various AAA programs. He played professionally for the Bakersfield Condors of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and the Long Beach Ice Dogs of the West Coast Hockey League (WCHL) after his Junior career. Daniel has been coaching youth hockey for the last 20 years at various levels and birth years.  He is currently working as the hockey director for the LA Kings Iceland at Paramount and LA Kings Ice Palos Verdes.

The 2023/24 Season will be Coach Kim’s first with the LMU Hockey program as he takes over for the departed Jack Hyman.

Coach Trevor Wada is a product of the California Amateur Hockey Association. He played, coached and officiated in California over the last 19 years. He played Junior A hockey in New Jersey and graduated college from Cal State Fullerton. He holds a level 4 coaching certificate from USA Hockey.

He has had a track record of success in his time as a coach at the youth levels. He has won 2 CAHA Tier 2 state championships and 2 finalist finishes over the last 5 years as well as a 18u Tier 1 State Championship in 2022.

2023/24 will be his first season coaching college hockey, and his first with LMU.  It is the first year for the LMU ACHA D3 program.
