Lions Sweep Weekend with 30 goals

The Lions swept their weekend games as they took down Cal State Fullerton and UC Santa Barbara by a combined score or 30-1.

On Friday night, the Lions went on the road to CSUF in a WCHC conference game.  The Lions scored first, as Chris Manzer fired the puck in.  CSUF was able to tie it with 5:41 to go in the first, but the Lions scored late in the first as Ryan Brown would get his first of 3 on the night.  The Lions would break out in the second, scoring six goals.  Engstrom, Brown (x2), Kaczmarek and Kilkenny would score.  In the third, the Lions finished off the game with 8 more goals to win 16-1.  Freshman, Steven Fitzer notched his second win in his second start.  Three Lions finished the game with Hat-Tricks, Billings, Brown and Manzer.

On Saturday the Lions hosted UCSB, and LMU came out on fire, scoring seven first period goals.  The Lions won the game 14-0.  Recent team addition Colton Marcy got his first start as a Lion and recorded the shutout, coming up with some timely saves.

Manzer led the Lions with 4 goals, and Connor Kilkenny also picked up a hat-trick.  Other scorers for the Lions were Rodriguez, Lynch, Lew, Kaczmarek, Billings (x2) and Hirai.

The Lions improved to 15-5-1 after the two wins, and have two weekends of games left until the WCHC playoffs.
