Lions Take Down Titans

The Lions took back sole possession of first place in the WCHC with a convincing 11-1 victory over CSU Fullerton.  While the Lions had a commanding possession advantage, including holding Fullerton off the shot counter until mid way through the second, the game remained close through 40 minutes of play.

The Lions got the lead in the first off a point shot from Cam Andrade, who’s seeing eye shot went top corner through a screen.  Later in the period, Spencer Engstrom would double the lead on a nice finish.

The Lions would take a 3-0 lead in the second on a great finish from Riley Watters, who went streaking to the back post and tapped home a saucer pass from Ryan Brown.

CSUF would get their first shot after this, and score a minute later on a 2 on 1 attempt.

The Lions regained a 3 goal lead at the end of the second, on a goal from Swenson-Lennox, who backhanded a rebound over the Titans goalie.

In the third, the Lions awoke for 7 goals, including 3 from freshman Connor Kaczmarek. The team also got goals in the third from Foster Krueger, Andrade and Engstrom both netted their second of the night, and Austin Billings put up his team leading 10th goal of the season.

In the end, the Lions won 11-1, outshot CSUF 59-7 and freshman Steven Fitzer got the win in his first start as a Lion.  With 3 assists, Chris Manzer extended his point streak to 6 games.
