With an early penalty against, the Lions were trying to keep the CSU Fullerton Titans off of the board early, but Nikita Smolyanoy turned the tables by scoring shorthanded to give the Lions the early, unexpected lead. TJ Cronin later doubled the lead on a pass from Freedman.
In the second, the Titans got back into the game with two quick scores, tying it at 2-2. Brown would score for the Lions with only a few minutes left to regain the LMU lead, and go into the final intermission up 3-2.
The Lions led the game in shots the whole way through, and Brown scored his second of the game early in the third, giving the Lions the two goal lead. With a few minutes left, captain Marc Baldwin scored to cement the victory, as Ethan Han stopped 26 shots.
